Either way, I hope you're up to something good this weekend, and I hope you'll tell me about it in the comments. Now on to some Friday Five. :)
one // You guys. I went hard on the wedding 'ish this week. Mr. Sass & I sat down side by side on Tuesday night and double-teamed our registry (see my mini rant from Monday about dishes). And while it's still not chock full of the recommended # of gifts I do feel good about the fact that it's all things we will genuinely use and have a place for in our house // kitchen. If we decide we need a $45 cocktail shaker we can always go buy one. Though I'm trying to picture such a scenario...
We do plan to register for some starter kayaks - just have to read some more Amazon reviews and find some that are low cost, but high quality - anyone have any ideas?
two // I did a thing. My company usually offers a discount code for the Pittsburgh Marathon. I've never taken advantage of it, because I've usually long since registered by now. I actually wasn't planning to run the Pittsburgh Marathon at all this year. Well, the email came out about the code & I jumped on it. It took the cost down to free, so I said what the hell and registered. And that, friends, is the story of how I'm running a half marathon 6 days before my wedding. God help my tan lines - should I run in a tube top?
three // Ciara convinced me to meet her Thursday night for an EFX (Enhanced Functional Exercise) class after work. I did, but it definitely kicked my ass, and I predict that as you're reading this I will be sorer (more sore?) than I already was from lifting weights on Wednesday.
four // I tried this new to me energy bar thing on Thursday before I met Ciara. It literally tasted like a foot. And smelled like soy sauce, so naturally I made my co-workers all try a nibble before I put it straight in the trash can, which is a bummer, 'cause it was like $3. But I just couldn't.
five // A few funnies to round it all out...
Hmm, but apparently by a "few" I mean two - slacker status this week. My B, y'all.
What are you up to this weekend?
Do you like buying a physical gift for a wedding - versus shopping online?
Any kayak recommendations?
there's a lara bar that is like that - i swear, it tastes like ass. i paid $2.50 for it and although it tasted like butthole (like i even know what butthole tastes like but i imagine it would taste like this bar), i ate it because $2.50.
ReplyDeleteOmg, this cracks me up! I at it because...$2.50. LOL. I like shopping for physical gifts for weddings. Typically because I totally procrastinate and end up in the store the day before the wedding. But also, I just like to give money because that's what people really want. Be prepared to get lots of envelopes of money. It pretty much sponsored our honeymoon cruise.
DeleteThat's where I was - I ended up throwing some away, but I felt SUPER guilty, 'cause like $3.
DeleteI hate when you spend good money for a good product & it tastes like GARBAGE> What a waste.
ReplyDeleteI remembered how fun it was for us to register for things. I gave Ricky the 'gun' to get some things he wanted. We registered for some of the most random things. The way it should be when you have so many of the kitchen & bathroom stuff you need.
I registered for some Fiestaware serving pieces I'm really excited about! As much as we have plenty of the normal stuff, when we go to entertain I feel like we have nothing to serve on, and I think the colors will be a fun way to spice things up!
DeletePlus a lot of our Amazon one is camping gear - which I am SUPER stoked about!
Yep! I feel you. Monday and Tuesday were slow days for me and then whaddayaknow, here we are!
ReplyDeleteI am dying at your description of that bar. Hilarious! And if you want to feel better about the $3... know that it'd probably be more like $5 in Australia.
Oh man, I don't think I would eat any store bought bars if they were $5 each, even $3 seemed CRAZY to me, but they all seemed to be that price, so maybe that's just what they are.
DeleteKevin and I frequently joke that we should get married just so we can get people to buy us all the stuff we want. I'm sure registering for your things was fun! I tend to seriously procrastinate shopping for wedding gifts, so I'm always crossing my fingers when I get to the store that the $100 items aren't the only ones left on the registry!
ReplyDeleteThere are some smaller items on our registry - but I always end up waiting to the last minute like you & then just giving $$$. I figure that way they can buy whatever, or save it. I always wondered if people really wanted everything on there, or just tossed it on their registries 'cause why not.
DeleteYesss, I love that you're running a race a few days before your wedding... it's so you! And who can say no to a free race?!
ReplyDeleteEww an energy bar that smells like soy sauce? Vom! No thank you!
Haha glad no one thinks I'm as crazy as I felt when I was like yeah, sure, let's do it. Haha. And I'll have to spend the whole next week applying self tanning lotion.
DeleteI must admit, I freaked out over registering for dishes, too. I can't explain it, but it took me forever to finally decide. I still love what I chose though. I LOVE the idea of registering for kayaks. How fun!!! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear I'm not the only one who couldn't pick!
DeleteWe're big into camping & the outdoors, so it just made sense to register for those things versus china we would never use!
I'm also planning on buying kayaks this year (maybe one kayak and one paddleboard to start) so we have to go together some time :) Great idea for a registry!
ReplyDeleteYeah! Trying to figure out how the heck we would transport them though. I think we'll buy them even if we don't get them from a registry. They're expensive, but not like expensive expensive, ya know? Not so much we couldn't just buy them. I would love to spend the summer kayaking at North Park and down on the rivers!
