Take 4,000,000 steps in 2017 | I made it my goal most months at the end of 2016 to get 80,000 steps each week - and for the most part I was successful. It got me up and moving during the work day and made sure I continued to move after my runs each weekend. To make it to 4 MILLION steps in 2017 I'll need to average 76,923 steps each week, and while it's a lot, I think I can do it! Luckily my FitBit makes it easy to track. P.S. If you wanna be Fitbit friends, holla at.
Track my 2017 running mileage | I tracked my mileage old school back in 2011 when I was training for my first two marathons. I had pretty much no idea what I was doing - did 99% of my runs on the treadmill and insisted on writing everything down to 2 decimal places, which made adding it all up such a nightmare. I'm so curious to know what kind of mileage I'm running in a year. I'm not ready to make a mileage goal yet, I would guess I'll run around 500 miles next year, my first step is to track it all & see where I come out. I'll track via GoogleSheets so I can access it anywhere - and I'll use this to keep track of my weekly steps too.
PR in 2+ distances (HM & 5K) | I'm trying a spring training plan totally different than anything I've tried before (more on that to come in the next few weeks) so I am expecting big things. I've picked a spring half that I think will increase the chances I have good weather. And y'all know I am still chasing that sub-25 5K time - but 2017 is my year, I know it.
Race another TRI | I raced a sprint triathlon in 2015 & I LOVED the process. The training was so much fun and it made me such a strong runner. While I'm not 100% sure I would re-race my first tri, since the RD can't seem to pull it together, I'm excited to tri train again. I mean, talk about built in cross training!

4 MILLION steps is such a killer goal, girl!
ReplyDeleteActually, all of your goals sound perfect!
Wow 4 million steps. I wouldn't have even thought that would be within reach of anyone. It sounds really doable for you thought!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGet back to running more 5k's and 10k's!
ReplyDelete4 millions steps seems incredible! But sounds like you have a good plan to accomplish it. My running goal this year is 600 miles. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm also using GoogleSheets to track my mileage. It's nice to have it to the summing. LOL.
I always try to get 10,000 steps a day or more but never calculated how many I get in a month or even a yr. That is a great goal. Good luck reaching that!
ReplyDeleteI always track my miles (old school...pen and paper LOL), but never set mileage goals. My mileage fluctuates all the time, due to injury or the timing of races, etc. I'm the kind of person that would have OCD on the "numbers" and would lose a lot of the "quality" in the process (and probably get injured trying to do so!).
ReplyDelete4 million steps?! you beast!!! you know i'll be coming to you when its finally time for me to start training for a Tri (2018) YAY fitness goals!
ReplyDeleteWOW, you are such motivation to get moving!
ReplyDeleteWill run at least 1200 miles this year, look to run my first trail race this year. Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteGreat goals and ambitious! I love tracking steps with fitbit but I've been bad about tracking running mileage. Good luck with 2017 :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to make it through my half marathon training without a horrible injury. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on my goals haha (January is a super busy month at work for me) - yours have given me some inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some great goals! One of mine is to finish a half marathon in under 2:15. I'm nervous to say it out loud, but there you have it, lol! I think it's going to be a great year :)
ReplyDeleteI really want a sub-1:50 Half again. My goal race is the first weekend of January 2018 so I want a really great marathon training cycle through 2017.
ReplyDeleteBeing able to run for at least a few weeks (5x a week) and not ending up with a million injuries (achilles/hamstring/etc..) no matter how much I stretch which is my M.O. :)
ReplyDeleteI think these are great goals for you, Jessie! That sub-25 is right around the corner, and I'm interested to follow your tri training!
ReplyDeleteI've never set mileage goals for myself. I'm just not that interested in yearly mileage so I know I wouldn't be motivated for it, plus, I'm pretty bad at tracking when I'm not in full on training mode. The Chicago Marathon is really my only running goal for the year!
To lose the last of my baby weight and complete at least three olympic triathlons. I've already signed up for number 1 in June and can't wait!
ReplyDeleteExcellent fitness goals!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you track your runs now? gps watch? app?
4 million steps is totally doable!! I'll have you look you up on Fitbit.
You have great fitness goals! I also working on a mileage goal for this year I'm upping it about 100 miles from 2016 and this year my goal is 850.
ReplyDeleteI want to enter more races but not necessarily distance ones. I'd like to up my number of 5k's and maybe some 10k's. Training with my family for another 5k is also on my list.
My goal is to walk more with my family.
ReplyDeleteI need your help training for a tri! I don't know the first thing about them and the transitions freak me out so I need advice from a seasoned pro ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso- you should join daily mile! That's what I use to track my runs and it's amazing. It's also great to connect with people and get motivation!
Oh, and one of my goals is also to PR in 2 distances! To be honest I want to PR in every distance that I race, but I'll be happy with 2 :)
I've tried tracking my mileage but I'm a little OCD and I become obsessed with it. Most of my outdoor miles are tracked with the Nike run app. I track workouts when I'm training for a race.
ReplyDeleteRun more races!
ReplyDeleteI don't do mileage goals at all. While they're cool to see, it's not what motivates me. What motivates me is racing & doing my best -- and that's why I'm usually following a plan.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals!
