Friday Five #40

First of all, FORTY Friday Fives? That's pretty cool. In November I'll hit a whole year of blogging - and I think that's neat. I'm impressed with myself. This stuff takes work, and way more than I ever expected. But reading comments you all leave and interacting with you guys is so much fun & so enjoyable. And definitely makes it worth it. But, enough being sappy...

Happy Friday! What's on tap for you all this weekend? I've got wedding #4 this weekend, followed by moving to the BF's on Sunday. EEK! My life is in a serious state of disarray right now, so I'm pretty excited to get back to some state of my new normal next week. And more so than anything, I'm excited to get back to meal planning // prepping & get out of clean out the fridge mode.

But, enough about that, I'll be back with my Fall Bucket List on Monday, and an update all about the move & my weekend come next Wednesday. In the meantime, here's some Friday Five for ya. :)

one // The fastest way to cause panic in an office building? Tell them the coffee maker is broken. Then make all of them shuffle down to another floor & stand in line to make coffee.

two // I found some things buried in the back of the freezer that will tide me over until I move on Sunday, but earlier this week, before I found those frozen treasures was rough. I ended up making an egg scramble with onion, corn, jalapenos, leftover sausage and beef + some feta and broccoli. It turned out surprisingly good (albeit ugly) & it made enough I could have leftovers for lunch, but now my house is officially out of eggs. And vegetables, unless we count onions & pickled jalapenos.

three // I mentioned in weeks past that we have a new service provider for an area that we outsource at work (like how vague that is? Yeah.) Anyways, it has been a total fail. Some aches and pains are always to be expected I guess, but I think this is a bit more. Anyways, it's going so poorly that I may have to work remotely from one of our sites to get this provider a better understanding of what we do. Please tell me how it sounds like I'll move in with the BF and see him less in the first few weeks than I usually do.

four // Work has been so crazy that I didn't get to take a lunch break on Thursday. I literally did not step out of the office once before the day was done. So, I took a break from packing & headed out for a walk before the sun went down. Just as I left the house one of my besties called me, so I got to enjoy a long chat. Which was much needed. And snap the picture of this vibrant sunset.

five // And as always, your weekly dose of funnies...

And finally, what I'll look like bounding out of work today, heading for a massage & then blitz packing the rest of my apartment, but only after I eat ice cream for dinner, 'cause #priorities.

What are you up to this weekend?
What's your go-to meal to clean out the fridge?
Share a major fail you had this week - I've been such a space cadet this week.
I've forgot to put my car in park more times than I can count before turning it off.

  1. I know that coffee panic all too well :) It's the same way if a Starbucks location doesn't show up on the order ahead section of the app..people go crazy if they have to go to another location 2 steps further away.

Major fail for the week was being sick and losing my voice. of course this week I had to do a presentation to the entire digital org...FAIL

    1. There's an order ahead section on the app? Things I never knew. But, considering I go there MAYBE 5 times a year, usually at like 1PM on a Tuesday the line is never too long. But I always wondered how ppl had time on their way to work.

  2. Leftover egg scrambles are the best because you can literally add anything - more meat, any veggies, and it works (for me at least). We're throwing a house warming party this weekend and I have my first 20 miler - eeek! Have fun at your wedding!

    1. Super delayed, but hope your house warming party went well! I love having an excuse to have friends over!

  3. THAT sunset is SO beautiful; and your egg scramble looks like a restaurant goalz breakfast! :) It sounds really good actually; you're doing a great job cleaning out the refrigerator.

    1. Thanks Emily! I rocked my fridge cleanout. The only things I threw out were some old pickles & a few other condiments that were getting kind of crusty.

  4. Major fail this week - I sort of botched a conference call I put together for one of our board committees.

Sorry that the service provider thing isn't working out. But that walk/sunset/chat with a friend sounds awesome. Life really does have a way of redeeming itself, huh?

Good luck getting through your busy weekend, and happy Friday! Also, no offense, but coffee from those coffee makers sucks anyway.

    1. Yeah, we get like a weird burned taste on the coffee sometimes, at least in my opinion. But it is free and plentiful, which are also two of my favorite coffee criteria...so I can't complain too much.

  5. I hate days where I feel like I'm stuck indoors & stiffled from work stuff. So good to get out & breath fresh air.
We dont have a coffee maker at work. Its amazing to me. I've almost bought one of those small keurigs for my desk & DARE anyone to touch it.

    1. I think if I bought one I would charger $1 or more a cup - or make people barter with me for other things. I can't imagine not having one here. It's so nice too, especially as it gets cold in the winter to be able to have a second cup.

  6. My clean out the fridge meal looks very similar. Because you can mix eggs with almost anything right! And that sunset looks so gorgeous! So nice you were able to make it out and enjoy some fresh air.

    1. Yes! I don't eat eggs for dinner all that often, but this really hit the spot, so I may have to add it to my routine.

  7. What is it with coffee pots giving up on life? My co-worker broke our coffee pot, the one we beg for months to get, and now I need to buy a replacement. and the keurig on the closest side of the building is also broken... so we have to walk all the way to cubbie jungle!!

Wow! that is one interesting meal!!

I hope you make time to eat lunch, it is just no fun to go without eating!

    1. My Mom's coffee maker just broke too. It was older than I was and chugging along just fine - and then just recently decided to give up on life. What a sad day.

  8. No coffee in the morning? There will be a problem ;)

Boiled eggs, scrambles, quesadillas are our fridge-clean-out meals.

    1. Mmm. Quesadillas. It has been a while since I've had one of those, but I do love them. Easy way to sneak in some extra vegetables too!

  11. Blogging does take work, doesn't it? I've been blogging around 15 months and I would truly hate to know exactly how many days, maybe even weeks, worth of time I've put into to the blog. However, I do so enjoy the outlet and the interaction with others that it provides me. Congrats on your upcoming blogiversary in November!

No fails for me this week. Last week, however... HA! I was due for fail-free week this week, which makes me nervous for next week!

The sunset picture is stunning! Good luck with your move.

    1. It really does. Sometimes the writing comes to me so easily & I stockpile posts & just revel in my blogging skills. And other times, NOPE. I'm more on a NOPE time right now.

    1. Thanks Steph! I've got a few posts in the works. Not sure they'll be informative so much as funny, just sharing some of the crazy things that happened to us.

  13. oh my gosh, we got a new coffee maker like a year ago, and the old one literally died the morning of the day it was being delivered, so my co-workers were out of coffee for like 5 hours and they went insane. i don't drink coffee so i was just like yeah sorry guys it's broken. 10 minutes later there isn't a single person in the office, they all went to starbucks lol.
i'm not great with cleaning out my freezer, but i have definitely made some weird meals while cleaning out the fridge or pantry lol. normally random veggies, and always tons of spinach. no matter what, i always seem to have a surplus of spinach.
    hope the move went well!

    1. I have corn, always corn. In my humble opinion it goes with everything. So pretty much all my clean out the fridge meals included some.

Bahaha, that was our office, except thankfully it was just a mad rush down to the first floor.
