Currently : July 2016

I'm not exactly sure how I blinked & it was July...but it happened. 2016 is halfway over & summer is halfway over, which demands a chorus of boos in my book, but means it's time for a new "episode" of Currently, and a mini panic attack about where the last few months have gone. I want to focus on the little things today. The things I don't always post about, but that make life so much more enjoyable. So, I'm linking up with Amanda, Anne & Jenna.

{toasting}
Me! I'm currently toasting me! No, but seriously, spoiler alert, I raced a 4th of July 5K (recap coming next week) & placed in my age group, so I spent the rest of the day celebrating!

{going}
Nowhere. I've got busy weekends ahead but it's all local. I've got my eye on the prize though, a B&B weekend away that the BF & I have planned in October.

{smelling}
Not much. My allergies kicked in last week. And while I'm getting it under control with some OTC allergy medicine, I'm still not 100% what it is that I'm allergic to, but I know it's something outdoors. So, I spend the first half of every day just waiting for the allergy meds to kick in. AKA breathing through one nostril & sneezing every 25 seconds.

I'm a real joy to be around at the office. I know.

{wearing}
It has been FOUR YEARS since my cross-country bike trip. This time in 2012 I was somewhere in New Mexico. I still vividly remember the 4th of July. One of our riders hooked up an enormous flag to the back of his bike. We got honks left and right from cars driving by. After a reunion weekend with some of my Bike & Build friends, I decided it was time to bust out my old jersey for a bike ride. So I did a fast for me 20 mile ride in my jersey on Sunday

{wishlisting}
A bike rack for my car. I say this every summer, and every summer I'm too frugal to take the plunge since I know my bike fits into my trunk when I take the front wheel off, but it's a bummer since it means my car can only seat two if I'm toting the bike around. I should just bit the bullet since it will save me so much aggravation in the long run. Any good recommendations?

    Allergies are kicking me in the face right now too. I sat outside reading for a few hours over the weekend, came inside & my throat was totally closed. Ahhh - nature.

    1. Ugh, I know, I'm fine as long as I remember to keep popping those allergy pills, but I miss one morning & boom, coughing, sneezing, the whole bit.

  5. Congratulations on your AG placement ! that is so exciting!!

    I would suggest to check on a yard sale or craigs list for the bike rack. The used ones work as well as the new ones. Unless you are willing to invest $200 + and install a hatch on your car, which is a good investment... one that we are considering now, because of how far we want to take the bikes.

  6. Ugh I feel you on the bike rack situation. I actually bought one for $10 from a yard sale, but it doesn't fit on my hatchback! So for now I'm just throwing it in the backseat.

  7. Congrats on placing in your age group! My birthday is the 5th of July so the 4th always used to feel like Christmas Eve to me when I was younger haha. I used to think the fireworks were all for me:)

  12. Congrats on placing in the race- that's awesome! And so amazing that you completed a cross-country bike trip! Love that you had a huge flag attached. I'd say since you bike so much, a bike rack is a necessity, but unfortunately I don't have any recs for you. Good luck finding one though!
