Friday Five #37

This week has been a hell of a week. One of our service providers at work has changed & so far the transition hasn't quite been smooth sailing. There have been a lot of kinks. Often times I describe my job as "Chaos Management" - because honestly, I do a little bit of everything, but it seems to all tie back to that. And this week has certainly lived up to that description. It has been a some long days & a lot of laughing, because you get to a point where there's just nothing you can do and laughing is the only option left.

Needless to say, I'm more than ready for this long weekend. I'm headed to KY to visit my family. Yesterday was my Dad's birthday! So I'm excited I'll get to celebrate with him as well.

I know Monday is a holiday, but I'll still be back to share my September goals + a check-up with how I fared in August!

In the meantime, here's your normal "dose" of Friday Five. :)

one // I just found out that I can set the timer on my phone to take selfies. Mind blown. Seriously, how cool is that. I always wondered how people got pictures of themselves running or whatever, but now I know, and I can't wait to spam the Internet with my cool new tricks.

two // I'm running behind on the news updates here, but my brother finished his thru-hike of the PCT! He actually finished on 8/20 - which happened to be the exact day he finished the Appalachian Trail last summer! Since he's back in KY & has showered now I plan to visit him this weekend!

three // Just over here plugging along with my life when my ex-boyfriend from two + years ago decides to follow me on Instagram from a random account that he must manage for work? And then spams me by liking 12+ pictures from TWENTY FOURTEEN. 2.0.1.4. Haha wut? Let me sum up my feelings on this for you.

four // This representation of true love. Considering my unofficial Love Language is being fed, this note (ignore the atrocious handwriting & odd face) on the fridge when I got to the BF's house after a bike ride was a beautiful sight. Especially because the peppers he's referring to were delicious. Fresh from the garden, stuffed & covered with homemade tomato sauce - made with tomatoes from the garden.

five // No real funnies to speak of this week...I know, I know, slacker status...BUT, I do have this picture. That I captured on my way to work the other day. This horse straight up had a smile on his face as he hung his head out the window and just swung it all around.

Anyone with a good ex-boyfriend story to share?
What's your love language?
What's your favorite iPhone trick?
Maybe I'll learn more new things!

linking up with Heather, Amanda, Andrea, Tif, Della & Katie.

  1. Exes have this bizarre way of showing back in our lives when we are literally just plugging along, and that GIF is a super accurate reaction!

I don't know what my love language is, there's a book all about that that I've been meaning to read! I recently found out about the iPhone timer as well and it made me feel like I'd been living in the dark ages. Happy Friday!

    1. It's actually a really good book. Being fed isn't actually a love language but it probably should be. Cause it's definitely mine.

  2. The self timer is awesome - even though it's still hard finding something to prop my phone on when I'm out. Have fun in KY!! :)

    1. Just about 100 days of hiking, but he had some time off in there for an injury or three. He also busted out 20+ miles every day, so, not a lot of time to smell the roses.

  6. ahhh - happy horse!!!!
When I take pictures even holding the phone, I put it on a timer so I have enough time to get my arm out & can hold it steady. My phone camera stays on 2 second timer.

    1. Ooh. I never thought of that. That's actually a really good idea since the BF can never hold the phone still AND push the button, which makes ol' short arms over here the designated selfie taker.

  7. Oh man, that is really creepy that your ex did that. Ugh!

Ooh, I need to see if my phone has a timer!

    1. I have an iphone 5c. And mine did, don't know about anything older, but I would think anything newer does!

  8. How weird is your ex! I hate when people like REALLY REALLY old photos and you know they've been creepin' :P

My love language is probably chocolate and peanut butter.. Jesse came home with a new-to-me block of chocolate and jar of peanut butter from his work trip yesterday and I was totally impressed.

Meanwhile I was playing the role of prankster by hiding a poop emoji pillow on his side of the bed (for some reason it's become a joke that when someone is annoying in our house they're a "poop nugget" and when I saw the poop emoji pillow I knew it was perfect) and so when he went to get into bed he pulled back the covers and was like "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT" :P hahahha!

    1. I don't think I would mind the creepin' if it was anyone else. But, we're FB friends still, so he knows the BF & I are together, like, why are you being weird and liking photos from 2014. Why are you scrolling back that far. Why are you following me from a random account that doesn't list your name?

Ah, the more I find out these little tidbits the more I feel like you two must be such a fun couple! That's totally something I would do.

  9. Huh, I bet I can do that timer thing too . . . I should probably figure that out! And the ex BF thing - uh, eeewww. Go away. So awesome your brother is done - we are near the AT and my boys have done parts of it so I know what an accomplishment to complete both trails really is! Have a great weekend!

    1. I figured it out and was like umm duh. This is how people have pics for instagram. Welcome to 2016 Jess. Haha. So, yeah, serious game changer.

  10. I totally learned how to take the iPhone selfie a month ago and I've had my phone for over a year X-) No shame.
My ex-boyfriend snapchatted me yesterday a picture the bathroom where we...um...enjoyed each other's company a few times...yup, didn't respond to that one.

    1. EW. Why do dudes have to be so weird. Like, no thank you. Go away.

Haha, so glad I'm not the only one who didn't know about this! I've had my phone for quite a while too!

  11. Congrats to your brother! That's so awesome! I don't have any really good ex stories to share...either they're completely gone from my life or I'm still friends with them and talk. One of them lives in Dallas right now but still has family living here, so I run into him a lot. Turns out his company has offices in Pittsburgh and he works out of my building when he's in town. Small world!

Funny story about that horse pic...I'm 99% sure that's my coworker's horse! She does horse jumping on the weekends and that looks like her horse and truck. Crazy!

    1. Super small world, I thought I was lucky in that all mine who I have no interest in talking to have moved away from Pittsburgh, but I guess that doesn't keep them from Internet stalking me.

Really? That's so crazy. The horse just seemed so happy! Like a dog with its head out the window!

  12. Bah ha ha on the ex boyfriend! What a creeper! I had an ex contact me after several years of being apart proclaiming his love for me. Ha! Move on dude!

    1. Yeah...I'm like where is this leading? Are you just going to like every photo I post on Instagram immediately? Or, is your crazy going to go past that?
